Nicolas Gustafson

Graduate Student

last updated: Tue Oct 29, 2024

Nicolas Gustafson joined the Schürch and Yang labs in August of 2024 to start a M.S. degree. His research aims to develop novel methods for the detection of agricultural arthropod pest species using airborne environmental DNA (eDNA). He is particularly interested in the use of molecular biology techniques to complement standard species detection methods. He is further interested in advancing the field to better understand the correlation between airborne eDNA abundance and species densities. Nicolas spent three years as an undergraduate student studying viral insect pathogens in Yang Lab at Virginia Tech.
